I thy elf
lowe I see
my mischief
would cause
much harm to thee

better safe this
elf to play
upon barren lap
in river word verse
use becomes sound

fuel indifference
though drawing anguish
whispers warden weight
thy side aches while lesson wise

I often refer to myself, half jokingly, as a neodruid, which is why the title of this piece caught my eye. I found this piece interesting on several levels. In structure it appears to be a literal translation from Old High English...its voice or rhythm is akin to that as well. The imagery is strong but subtle...and it has layers. While it seems to be speaking of the wee people, methinks it goes a bit beyond that...all in all, this is a splendid write, Debby

this is a strange poem,

it makes no "sense"

yet hints at great wisdom:

but its sound
its sound is glorious!

nicely done
