...to honor them on Vetrans Day, Nov. 11

Gone are those who fought
in the War-to-end-all-Wars:   WWI
Passing from us are those survivors who fought
in the ferocious WWII

Korea and then Vietnam -
our young ones were called again
to put their lives in harms way
for freedoms we of't take for granted.

Grenada, Gulf War, Afghanistan, Iraq -
our country, and others, call upon
their young men and women to
protect us from evils of the world.

Our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Air Force...
our Heroes in uniformed battles,
called upon to kill before being killed or
to save their brave comrades.

If we could only bring back the innocence
of those who have gone to wars;
take back the sights they have endured and
give them peace for their aching hearts.

If we could only rebuild their spirits;
make their bodies whole again
so they will know they are our heroes,
the ones who allow our freedoms.

Hail not to the Chief, but to our Veterans -
our care-takers - for they are the ones
who deserve our love, our prayers,
our continued vision of true Heroes


Remember to write your congress-person to increase funding for the care of our Veterans!
