Good morning all,

I wrote, in memorium, for the little two year old Canadian child who was shot yesterday because he cried.

Hugs, Trish.

Poem Artwork

Small intrusions that beckon one to reflect
Back into the past and recall what it was
That made us who we are today, and
Who we will be tomorrow, as if
We could, but change a single
Solitary moment of those
Memories that haunt
The quiet times in
Restful minds.

Subtle smiles that play along the fine lines
Of shapely, well-chiselled lips to form
The beginnings of what promises to
Be a hardily felt belly laugh,
While small children play
With careless, happy
Abandonment in a
True barrier- free
Loving world

Family trips to the great oceans in vehicles
That move at barely a snail’s pace, while
Children ask, “Are we there yet, Mom”
And yet, no matter the answer the
Time is right for the picking and
Before you know it, they have
Grown and moved on, only
To return with bundles
Of love to share.

Monsters and madness threatening today’s
Inner child with murder and mayhem,
While those of yesteryear can do not,
But watch the chaos, and fear for
What the world of tomorrow
Will bring to the future of
Today’s little children
Who cannot, but be
What they see.

Memories of happier times filter through
The minds of the elderly, as slow soft
Tears crest their old lined cheeks,
And fear strikes terror in their
Hearts, as they watch the wee
Children struggle to survive
In world where peace no
Longer reigns free, but
Death comes easily.

As a Mother, Grandmother, Human being, I for the life of me, cannot imagine inflicting harm on a child, much less death.
This world scares the hell out of me, as I imagine it does so many more.
How have we gotten to this point? And how can we get back to where we are a compassionate and caring society? I wish I had the answers..
My prayers go out to those that loved that child, for they too will be placing their questions of why, without the slightest chance of ever finding their answers.
Beautiful write Trish, from an obvious caring heart.

Monsters and madness threatening today’s
Inner child with murder and mayhem,

Truly a far too sad reality for far too many in today's chaotic violent modern world, Trish.
