Wind howls, rattles the window
shakes the house
blows down the chimney
coals throb red,
and glow.
The man outside
is sobbing
Who are you? Why should I care?
go away,
you're not wanted here
where it's warm
and snug.
The man outside
is sobbing
Have pity on this poor wretch
who's guilty
of what you do now,
and regrets
it so
I am outside
and sobbing
