One more for my children's book of dogs. The picture shows Daisy and Buddy, my niece's two rescued boxers. Boxers are often abandoned because people don't understand their personalities.

Boxer Dog Here’s some news about the boxer dog His appearance is svelte, and he loves to jog; His muscular body with the wrinkled forehead Fine ears (leave 'em floppy); his fur doesn't shed. A boxer stands for loyalty, to people and his home, He has a playful goofiness and has been known to roam. He'll chase a motorcycle, he'll challenge a passing car, He's all bark and little bite, his personality on par. What other breed is known for the so-called kidney dance, A whirling joy, tail to snout, circling in a trance? Think not of boxers if your heart's desire is the fluffy, lounging kind A boxer's crazy wild; if you are too, it's love and you won't mind.

It's too bad more people don't research the breed before buying or adopting. I have 4 mini-Dachshunds & I love em. This is a great poem. You have me thinking about animal rights but in a positive way.

Your love and appreciation of this breed is evident in your writing Eileen and I think I would rather like them as a breed if I were looking for a dog.

I beg to differ, no animal needs to be abandoned. When you bring one or more into the home it is your responsibility to learn the breed and adjust to their needs. Abandonment is irresponsibility and selfishness. However, your poetry is sheer delight expressing these bull dogs wonderful lightheartedness and personality...
