You Old Time Densters know what I mean. Happy birthday, Patrick

His birthday is St. Patrick's Day, So Mom named him Pat. He's got the spirit of the blarney, And nothing wrong with that. Don't try to call him Saint Anything, Unless there's a Saint for beer, 'Cause he doesn't do false piety And martyrdom's not near. He does love animals like St. Francis, And he keeps Mom in his heart, Best of all, he loves me madly, I'd say that tops the chart.

And from a New Yorker tried and true, the Irish have a hell of lot more on the ball than even the insightful thoughts you've posed here. There's spirit beyond the supernatural facade, there for those of us not so influenced by the common image of New York's Irish. They, more often than not, think and do outside the box. Of course that's just my experience after 25 years of living there. I could be wrong.
