She’s Waiting
Sitting by her bedside, the aroma of death filled air.
So pale and fragile lying here with beautiful white hair.
As I sat there it wasn’t my loving sister I was seeing now.
This was just the shell of her, as I wiped her weeping brow.
The memories of our childhood flowed like a river through my mind.
I was the little rebel and mutineer, she was strong, gentle and kind.
She always looked after me when I got into any kind of trouble.
She never told a soul, all those times when I failed and stumbled.
She was always there to pick me up and kiss away my tears.
Now here she is in front of me, weakened through the years.
But her strength is still inside her, for she fights at deaths door.
She waiting for her daughter’s visit, she won’t die one second before.
All that I can do is hold her, sit here and stay by her side.
I pray her daughter will get here soon, before death arrives.
As her daughter walked in the room a smile came on her face.
She held her daughter’s hand so lovely with devoted grace.
A tear fell from her daughter’s eyes that her mother wiped away.
Don’t cry for me my darling, I will see you again one day.
Oh, how those memories came back like an avalanche of pain.
Remembering all the times she protected me, why can’t I do the same?
