Met a legend last night
awe~inspiring
plastered this poem across her promotional picture and gave it to her
"what a wonderful feeling"
See my mother told me
That they be spirits watching me
That we sho didn't make it here alone
That we got ta eat off what they done grown
And mother keep em' alive
She breathe them in lines
Crossing times
See my mother bond generation
Holding spirits in ink
Proud roots growing deep
From her mind
Draping over her shoulders
Down her spine
Crossing times
See my mother twist her wrist
Bringing images to life
Celebrating a strong woman
Passive-aggressive-connected
Picking apples from life tree
Edging pathways for us to be
Crossing times
Paths are like dreams waiting to cross, vision left is one real with hope, future leaves only more to see, for take give a perfect pair..Excellent write.. Walt
Hey Mitzi. Thanks for all your comments on my poems. I like this one.Reminds me of the playwright August Wilson, and his series of plays that span generations of Afro-Americans. I've seen a lot of them. My brother has done the lighting for a lot of them the most recent "Gem of the Ocean." keep up the good work

CROSSIN' TIMES is a stunning tribute to all strong women throughout time. Beautiful, soulful writing.
What a wonderful tribute this is to your mother, Mitzi. I can feel her strength and her ability to bring culture into your life. So often, parents forget to show us the pathways that our ancestors took and the way that they impact our lives, even today. Your choice of words and the sense of religion that dances softly in your verses tells me that she made certain that her children were very aware of their kin who walked this earth before them. Very nice work!!
