~~~~Yes she told me there was healing in the sea - but she never believed~~~~
Poem Artwork
boiling
till eyes start to drain
Big Momma always had away of easing the pain
Big Momma had a plan of all life's dues
and she called it the Saltwater Blues
told me I could get anywhere
be anything in life
long as I ways layin it right
young girl she said full of pure
maple honey
and get on out there
spend up dem bees money
and if in my heart I get down
and feel like I'm gonna lose
she say this here advice I'm gon want ta do
she say don't be like her
and take it to the bottle
or open up yo hole untill you hollow
don't get loss in drugs cause the
pain will still be there tommorrow
drowning yo'self in dem blues sangers
sorrows
cleanse your body and my words you follow
wrap yo'self in something soft
take all yo clothes off
walk barefoot down to the sea
after leaving yo house on bended knees
open yo'self all up if you got to
Big Momma gonna hip you to the
Saltwater Blues
it will ease you honey
it will take the pain away
step in those waters
and let your heart pray
it will ease you
fo me it's just to late
but it worked so good it took my momma away......
let the waters heal you child
if you need too let it carry you away
or ease you child for another day
don't sit alone crying
don't wait on no man to take you away
you here now and gotta make yo own way
and you know how we gets paid
get yo'self together child
i'ma gon be sending him yo way
gon do what Big Momma told you let him play
now you know ain't much else round here fo a girl like you ta do
come light you member what Big Momma
told you...bout them SaltWater Blues
cause we all gets em honey
MitZi, your work and your artistry continue to amaze me, this poem told in the wonderful rich dialect you share is heart warming and real. I live beside and surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and your big Momma was right it is the best place to refresh and restart when life is getting one down.
