Her words were so cold
That they came out frozen
From her frostbitten lips
And icy breath-
After I listened to the harshness
Of the frozen words
I reached up and snapped
The sentence in two-
And left her mumbling
Incoherent words with no meanings,
As I smiled and walked away.
I may go back and listen
To what she has to say-
When the words have had time
To thaw and the sting
Has become damp whispers
That falls softly in the night,
As I lay my head on my pillow
And close my eyes in the darkness,
But tomorrow I will face the sun
Taking time to absorb the warmth
And let my own words thaw,
Before irreversible damage is done.
