We all need a muse.

Poem Artwork

She was my inspiration-

The reason for my words,

How could they not be beautiful-

How could they not touch

The very heart and soul

Of all that gazed upon them?

The captivating words – her words

Did not come in sparse trickles

Or require deep mythical thought,

They flooded my mind like a waterfall-

Creating an endless pool in my soul,

Until I could release them to live forever.

Sometimes the escaping waterfall

Would weep from my eyes,

As the emotions pouring forth

From the source of my love

Were too beautiful to contain,

And tasted so sweet on my lips.

I would breathe life into the words

And she would live in them,

I could feel her stroking my mind

And melting my heart with each thought

That poured forth from my soul-

And became the essence of her.

My inspiration, my dream, my love

Now grows so strangely silent,

An emptiness fills the void were her words

Use to spring forth and consume me,

Without her I am destined to famine,

So sad is the death of a poet.

So inspiring, but then so very sad.

What seems as a death, but only be a temporary hiatus, a pause, in the flow of the inspiration of the muse. It is not always continuous, but can be intermittent. The Muse will return when she wants.

Heartfelt poem, and well-expressed emotions! I hope she will realize your dedication and goodness and find her way back to you.

Your muse was definitely a very emotional and romantic one. Let us hope she is just lost and will find her way back into your writing very soon. Very nice personification for what all poets need to have ready when they want to write the next great poem.
