I ask him, how do I know….how will I recognize
If what I write is really good…how will I know?
Write from your gut, he said
Sit down and open yourself from breastbone
To pubes, let your guts spill out all over the page
Bleed until there is no more blood in you to bleed
Don’t pay any attention to how it sounds
To you or to anyone else
Pay attention to how it feels, how it pours out of you
And onto the page in front of you
Let it hurt until the pain itself turns to words
Mixing with the blood and guts, pull the heart
Out of your body and lay it out there in front of you
And then ask yourself….is this real…and you’ll know
No one can tell you…you’ll know

He has upset you!.
Best stick the bits and pieces back in again
(in the right order hopefully)
Remember the Sue of Old,the one that packed a punch.

I guess I relate so much because you are down to earth and so damb honest..!!
I think you're ALWAYS good, regardless of what "he" says. However, whenever you write something that tears a piece right out of you, that causes you to bleed... "he" is right, you just know it.
