Poem Artwork

Hotter than a pistol.  Microwaving
us on Nuke.  Egg fries on the walk!
Hi from Summer, down Carolina way.
Gasping creek up front  beyond life
support.  Red clay drained to muck
brown, muck brown to a sickly gray.
Gray fast giving in to dirt-jacketed
rock.  What?  What do you mean,
you can't get warm?  Say you went
out with damp hair, now your head
could be a rink for Lilliputians to
skate? What is going on?  Did NASA
flunkies brave I-95 to come arrange
for me to be shot behind SputnikXYZ?
Wait.  Hazy, but I believe I just might
recall,  "Honey, our world just shrunk."
"Folks pitched in.  Even used the 'net.
Not family yet,  but getting there."
Something about borders blurring
and shifting.  Miles not being the miles
they were?  Right about one thing.
Months have pssted to days, days to
nanoseconds.  Nanoseconds shrinking
to units Lilliputian brains such as mine
push away. All kinds of places are
melting pots.  And I forgot??   Old
habits die hard. my only excuse.  Wrote
like a jingoist, I apologize.  Neither I
nor this land I love is The Center.
End-all-be-all, whatever. Never was,
but now we know.  U.S. is turning to
Us.  This is a good -- no, very good --
thing.  Out with They/Them.  No more
You/Us.  Problems-?  Do we have
problems?!!!!  Nothing's simple, like
we'd like.  Hot here/freeze there;
blizzard here/typhoon there.  But we
are homo sapiens!
  Ours is the race that
invented AC!   Anoraks and stoves.
Big-We on the way, I just know,
              to
P E A C E.

Last evening, I watched "The Day After Tomorrow;" a very poorly made film, in my opinion but still with a message. Your write here reminds me of the same message. Thank you, Pea. Love and peace to you,

Regis

I like this positive upbeat write and yes I think there is always hope as long as at least a few of us do not give up believing in it and passing it on to future generations. Good job Pea.

Good one, Phyllis. A lot to think about (and a lot to forget).
We homo sapiens also invented the hula hoop, bag ladies, the
a-bomb, hate, and greed. Maybe we should take a break. -gene.

(((Pea))),

Apathetic attitudes of selfish.ness evident in words that bypass those of us who remember what it was like to know your neighbors - to take care of them - what it was like to breathe clean air - what it was like to be in the great outdoors - sigghhh. Bring back the good ole days! We are reaping what we've sowed - excellent.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. *cool thoughts to you*

You give the reader a lot to ponder my friend, you've summed up the selfish generation that has quickly been coming to a halt! Yes, humnans have invented what we have all reaped the comforts from, AC and so much more...but all the while we were destroying the future of this earth that we love so much...we were warned but many thought of those that sounded the trumpet as being simply, just radicals who have nothing else to do...many that are still around are now re-thinking those statements. A well thought out and thought provoking write that touches all of us in one way or another! Well done my dear friend!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
