Afterthought: I probably should have mentioned that the question is rhetorical. Believe me, I am no stranger to others' distress. Part of the reason I wrote this! {Forgive me if the other part involves self-pity; sometimes, I believe it helps a little to fall apart for awhile.} Love, 'Pea'

                         B l u e

Times when no matter what you do,
you feel blue.
(You know?).

Times when no matter how hard you fight,
things  ain'  right.
(You know?)

You want to have faith.
You want to believe.
Even in the face
of the kind of grief
that ain' the kind to let go.
(You know.)

You want to be brave,  you want to cheer.
People need you, and you want to be here.
A lamp is still lit.  Just hiding from me.
Fire is still warm.  Gotta be.
Need to do better.  Need to accept.
Have wept all the tears that can be wept.
Some losses go on and on.  Who doesn't know
it is true ?   Who thinks only good winds blow?
Wish I could tell you I will pull myself  tall,
but right now I know nothin' at all, at all.

Times when no matter what you do,
you feel blue.
(You know?)

training the emotions of the mind is probably the most difficult task each being must learn to be truely free from the pain of emotional suffering...and it is not that the bad things go away, quite the contratary, but it is the perception that shifts into awareness of experience, knowing everything passes...many great works of art were created during such awareness..."Blue" is one of those truths...

Yes Pea, I know all too well. It is ironic that just when we get to the age that we should be able to do and say what we like, it is also the time that we have so many people depending on what we do, say, or feel. I can be in the bluest of blues but if my Grandkids want to see Poppy I must find a smile for I would never want to be the cause of them beeing sad. So yes this write makes perfect sense and you are not alone.

Phyllis Jean, my father always told me, "Jon Michael, if you want to live to be old, you have to be tough. It isn't always easy, and the cold tries to overwhelm the warmth. But if you hang in there with faith, it is the most marvelous of journeys son" My dad passed away at 95 in December of 2007. He did not not give up hope or loving life even in his very last day on earth. And for his last fifteen years he had many critical health issued to deal with. So Phyllis Jean, be tough and never stop loving life my friend. JMW
