Starting Over

All must be finished before you can start

          Including the affairs of your sacred heart

Must let go of that selfish pride

          To mend the hurt that’s held deep inside

Each sunrise brings the promise of a new day

          The promise of a chance that will come your way

The challenges you face can wear you down

          Must force that smile to be rid of the frown

The thoughts of the day can weigh heavy like lead

          Retain that perspective and raise your head

Focus on the good, the happy, not the sad

Make good your intentions and you will be glad

Life is too short and time is so dear

          Devise your plan to recover that year

Don’t deny the forgiveness that is long overdue

          Make one step forward and just be you

Open your eyes, your heart, and mind to see

          Someone will enter your life to set you free
