Living Regret...

This Poem was generated from what inpired me to paint this picture; most elderly people in retrospect feel like they should have done more with what was given them. This poem now accompanies my painting "Living Regret." The message is strong, so get out there and make a difference to get the most out of life, so that you are not the one living with regret!

Living Regret

As I sit here all alone
watching the hands of time,
All that which I consider my life to have been,
I revisit in my mind.
Yearning to take back those moments
that were so easily taken for granted,
trying to fill a void that I created.
Wishing I had done more instead of less,
  should have bought that Harley,
or learned to fly a plane I confess,
even to swim with the fish in the sea,
or ride that bull, maybe.
Should have married that woman in my dreams,
I should have, could have, would have it seems.
Only if I had more time and a plan,
instead I sit here now with no time left
 to do whatever I can.
Can’t undo that which I never should have done,
for I have nothing to show as my time is gone.
Just waiting now as the end is near,
knowing that I fell victim to my personal fears.
There is nothing left of me to forget,
as I'm living with nothing but Regret.
