Dancing With Neptune

As day surrenders to the night
Deep shadows cling to the bay
Where a solitary silhouette
Pauses along her way!
 
On Neptune’s breath the tide rolls in
Soon it will cover the land.
The sea will dance upon the shore
And the stones on which she stands.
 
Claiming that which belongs to him
Neptune forces her retreat.
But unwilling to abandon the solitude,
She two-steps out of reach!
 
From stone to stone she dances
As her laughter fills the night.
Neptune tries to out step her
But she’s like a bird in flight!
 
Dancing neath a star-filled sky
To the tune of Neptune’s hiss,
She leads him in a merry dance
As he tries to steal a kiss!
 
All too soon the dancing fizzles
Neptune’s takes his seat!
And the silhouette curtsies on the shore
As she silently retreats!

Great poem, great writing, my friend. What I sense here is the sea attempting to overtake the shore but continually rolling back from where it came, as night attempts to overtake day.

This is such a cleaver bit of writing, Anna. I had to read it twice I enjoyed it so much. Maybe in the next poem you might give us a hint at who this two-stepping dancer is. I have to save this wonderful poem.
