Bouquet of Memories

Memories are so very precious....

Like gentle rain on a warm summer day
Memories trickle slowly into my thoughts.
I have willingly carried them for a lifetime
And they have never weighed me down.
Some of them happy, inspiring,
Others darken my brightest day!
Nevertheless…
I have gathered them like beautiful flowers, one at a time,
Amassing an impressive bouquet!
There are wildflowers, friends who crossed my path
And disappeared, like dry leaves in the wind!
Red roses, lovers who brought passion
That cooled into icy crystals before melting away!
Then one day a delicate blossom became part of me
And together we bloomed into an exotic orchid!
Our union blessed us with precious sprouts
That grew into breathtaking carnations!
My garden of memories flourishes
As I nurture each and every flower
So that my beautiful bouquet never fades!

A truly beautiful and inspiring poem! I love how you have woven even dark memories into your bouquet of life, for the sad moments of our lives add to the total person we become. How wonderfully clever and truly poetic to gather memories as one would a bouquet of flowers then brought forward to become family. I felt this one, Anna, my friend. Beautifully written and put forth.
