In plain sight…
All of the treasures of the universe
Were scattered about the earth!
Precious gifts as enduring as time itself…
Lavished freely upon even the most undeserving,
Right there in front of me, and yet
I was sightless, blindly racing into tomorrow…
Always looking ahead oblivious to it all.
Hindsight my crutch, I leaned heavily upon it
In the search for that place where I fit…
And the world kept spinning faster
Gaining momentum with each passing year!
Then one day twilight years began creeping onto a horizon
That had only yesterday seemed endless.
And like an old friend, clarity gently embraced me
Lifting the veil that shrouded my sight.
Now I see the splendour in glorious crimson sunsets,
The majestic radiance in brilliant shimmering rainbows;
The infinite facets of white clouds in a heavenly azure sky!
I feel the promise in springtime; the ecstasy in an ocean breeze;
I hear the rhapsody of birdsongs, the sweet sound of trees
Whispering in the forest near a fragrant meadow
And as I touch the earth, every one of my senses tells me
This is where I belong, and it was right here all along…in plain sight.
