From my book "Rhymes of Times", I love our rainforests.

RAINFOREST DREAMING

Imagine the beauty, standing in the rainforest, no one else around
Mingle with the animals, not afraid of your sight or sound
With melaleuca’s, eucalyptus, burrawang palm and elkhorn abound
A rare rainforest skink stops to look as it scoots along the ground.

Leaning against a tall northern silky oak, I settle where I sit
In a nearby giant quondon tree a grey headed robin does flit
Singing its monotonous piping whistle, I’m enjoying every single bit
A macleays honeyeater joins in chorus with its “to-wit-to weee-twit”.

Shaded by an ivory curl tree a lessor sooty owl trills a squeal
A rare masked white rat happily enjoys its insect meal
Looking high into the canopy, this feeling is so surreal
Feelingings of contentment and inner peace, one can finally reveal.

Above me a golden bower bird voices a series of rattles and croaks
High in a kauri pine ground ward, a mahogany glider gently floats
A booming rainforest tree frog, his large air sacks he bloats
There’s a bennets tree kangaroo, a young in her pouch she softly strokes.

Some brahminy kites circle atop the canopy looking for a feed
Next to me a brush-tailed phascogale is munching on a centipede
Lovely pale yellow robins, dart about the floor pecking at some seeds
Two rusty monitors argue whilst rustling in dead leaves.

Victoria’s rifle birds “rasping yaas” add to the forest screaming
To know and name all our flora and fauna would be the best feeling
Wakening to the sound of heavy rain and now it’s really teeming
Realising that once again in my sleep, I was just……….

RAINFOREST DREAMING.

The imagery you paint with your brush of words brings visions of such beauty, whether dreaming or reality....

Be always safe,

Ah, what a lovely painting you have painted here - I enjoyed every beautiful visual image you spoke about and brought to life in this writing. I also liked the rhyme & rhythm & flow of this piece. You have such great imaginations to bring to any reader. This is a great writing.

You Look FatCalgary by RickthePoetWarrior

Using Calgary as a backdrop the author satirizes the self-serving nature of the public as it continues to fatten itself, not only physically, but egotistically as well.
