Where do I start? Kay, to weave these two images together was a stroke of genius, creating an impact that makes it hard to look, OR to look away. There's a nearly audible "snap" from verse one to verse two... a clever, if startling demand to remind us of our most glorious highs and our most deafening and shocking lows. Kay, an exceptionally heartfelt write, which clearly illustrates how human beings and the power and wealth of the G-7 and their inability to take care of the needless suffering because there isn�t any money to be made off of feeding the poor or the defenseless. The money alone spent on security measures would have been enough to feed the all the starving people of the world for a year. Hopefully by keeping the torch burning brightly, human kind will acknowledge and respond to the desperate plight of those less fortunate. Stunning composition, Poet.

A sad commentary. Despite their internal situation they were still able to send a team to the Olympics, though they have no medals. As far as outside intervention is concerned, this is just one more example of the ineffectiveness and incompetence of the United Nations. Thanks for keeping this before us. Nicely done.

this is one of the reasons i have become an ostrich and stopped listening to the news etc........
i know its harder to live this nightmare than to hear of it....yet by the same token, it makes one feel powerless in the realities of this world.........
