This is funny...but came from not so funny first... :-) We can do our best to be sweet most of the time...but...when other action is necessary...be YOU!

WALKING is good for what ails.....

by:  Linda Law

I'm not a walker.....prefer being a talker
Force myself to move around,  sitting is lazy
What does a writer do?  Sit and write, get wider...
Look in the mirror.. can't lie... Shock and fright

The day began good...smiling and daydreaming
Planning the next story, characters taking life
Stop! Rewind.  The house needs me... cooking
cleaning, dusting and stuff...I'm the boss I huff!

Shower and shine, what a fine day it is...
Study the book, mingle with friends, pray together
I walked...two blocks, that should count... right?
One block going, one block back, walked..no drive

Set the table, smiling and happy...the day went well
My partner walks and walks, while I talk and talk
Dinner was nice, what he could taste...mainly drank
Somewhere inside, I fought my inner crank!

Time for rest, a little TV, snack and laugh helps too
The clock read 7:47, still my daytime, way past his
Turn off the TV, turn off the light, turn off the pc...
That urge to yell was churning inside...no...smile!

The TV went off, the light went dark, the computer
wouldn't stop...a virus was due! What must I do?
Clock reads 7:52...why aren't you in bed...Oh hell..
Stomps to the guest room, while I wrestle with this

Clock reads 7:59...Oh my! He returns and stares
How do I dare not have the room in black...he's back!
The pc is updating, "don't turn off while updating!"
the message blinks at me... panic sets in... Orders

From two masters I am flustered and wonder
How did I get here...Me, the strong, the smiler,
The pleaser, the keeper of the peace!  Stomps again
to his comfy guestbed...while I am heavy inside

How dumb is all this?  Sick inside, and wanting to
scream...Throw things and stomp, use words that
all begin with X... Unplug the darn computer, let
it get sick...virus...who cares... Let him toss too..

Pull on the t-shirt, the pants and the sneakers...
Slam the door as I fly out the front ...down the
Steps, and off I go, 90 to nothing, down the street
Going so fast, my feet are in shock...block to block!

It's colder than I realized, no jacket on me...
Each house is dark, with a light here or there
Mainly a huge TV screen blinks back at me...I see
Some on their decks, playing music and talking

Not me... I'm walking...walking... maybe flying...
So darn mad that my feet aren't on the pavement
Cussing and ranting under my breath... releasing
and screeching inside of me... keep walking...

Before I knew it, my house stared back at me!
Who knew I could walk 3 miles at this roaring speed
Who knew I had so much fury churning within
Fury is rare for me, but it's learned to hide well

Stomp in the house, slam the door hard...lights on
wherever I pass...Who cares?  I dare him I say
only to myself... turn on the TV, loud as can be
Crawl under the covers, still steaming is me

Slowly...I laugh...then smile... turn out the lights
Clock reads 10:01, woe is me! Cinderella is cracking
way before midnight...Ha Ha...Let the Prince sleep
if he wakes... He may see Godzilla in a silk nightie!

The house is quiet, still... in a mocking way...
When suddenly he slips under the covers...touches
"Oh No You didn't!"  Cinderella snaps...she cracks!
Quiet as a churchmouse....The Prince barely moves

Wait til I tell him that I walked three miles!
Faster than he ever has walked...Mr. Exercise...
Has nothing on me!   Whew...I feel better...at ease
Walking sure cured what ailed me....  hehehehehehe

Okay... I don't walk as often anymore...but it's amazing how walking, running, stomping, screaming can help the figure, the throat, the mind, the anger....the fun! Hugs, lindalaw

Well, well,Linda,

That was quite a passle of words lol. Sounds like you are having my days--only my legs won't walk so far due to a back injury so I just seethe and write journals. He found one and now I may soon be running too. Ah, such is life!!

Delightful write, Linda; I walk nearly everywhere I go. Have no choice: my crutches and my feet are my mode of transportation. :) (Don't have to worry about the high cost of gas that way; only thing I need to replace are my shoes, though I wouldn't mind a backup pair of crutches! LOL) Well done!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

Oh, Linda, Linda, Linda...You have me laughing and shaking my head. My poor husband would love to go to sleep that early every night, but with our busy household there is no way it would ever work. Even when things do start to quiet down he has to deal with me, the night owl....He can't keep my hours and I can't keep his...they start too early for me! hee, hee...
Well, at least you got a good walk in, right??
Cryssa :~)
