Remember this.
The utter lack of good you've let yourself become
How your eagerness to fly has splintered your wings of freedom
How the radiant window through which you used to view life
Now stands tarnished, a weary symbol of the fight
The defeat of innocence was aided by your own hand
Finally, naive little girl, you understand
There is no victory in this triumph, no prize for this game
Though your heart is now sullied, the world stays the same
So stay where you are with mock cheer and fake mirth
Or attempt an escape and go travel the earth
But where ever you go and whatever you do
Just know this--you're done struggling, but they aren't through
So the storm rages on, with you the lone sailor
To keep fighting remember the taste of your failures
Remember the pain after bitter regret....
I wish that whoever did this to you could hurt as bad as you do. They might think twice before callously tossing aside your feelings, when thy have gained enough of your essence to make themselves feel invincible again. The mind games we play often don't allow us to feel regret, unless we are the ones that got hurt. May God pour out his healing waters into your hurting heart. Thank you for a poem to cure our wanderlust in life, and remind us of the path we once thoughtlessly left. Rockie Coppolella
