A Married Woman

Watching the sun rise over

An indigo blue sea

Loneliness washes over me

Because I had to set you, free

Our love was forbidden

And doomed from the start

Nevertheless, we swore our allegiance

Swore we would never part

I really knew better and

I should have run

Falling for a married woman

Is like playing with a loaded gun

You swore it was over

His chances all used

Yet when I talked about divorce

You flatly refused

There was no love between you

Or so you said

However every night

You were back in his bed

The harder I tried to

Pry you away

The more determined you

Were for you to stay

I showered you with love

And gentle care

For us to be apart

I did not think was fair

You took all of the love

And clung to the care

All you gave me was words

Your life, you would not share

Words of love are great

But not without acts

It helps to separate

Just words from the facts

My heart was dead

Before I let you in

A new start in my life

I was ready to begin

I unlocked my heart

And opened the door

Our short times together

Always left me wanting more

I wanted you forever

An eternity in time

All I could do was love you

What a horrible crime

Every time I got close

You would push me away

So I tried even harder

Ignoring my dismay

I revolved my life

Around only you

You gave me bits and piece

You said the best you could do

Its all gone now

Except for my broken heart

The future that I hoped for

Just fell apart

Now I spend my days

So lonely and blue

Not a night or day goes by

Without thoughts of you
