She was the 'coolest' Aunt I EVER had.

Poem Artwork

She was ahead of her time
Wasn't afraid to take chances
Always was curious. ..
I know someone just like her, now

It was in the 50's that I was introduced
To my Aunt Ruth
My grandparents on both sides
Died when I was three---

So my Aunt who really was my 2nd cousin
Took the place of my grandmothers'
I can clearly remember going to her house
It was quite small, it was just her and my Uncle Bill

I remember in the 60's
my Aunt went back to
School to learn the Russian
Language, because she wanted to

When we came to visit
She had bought us things to play with
Like crayons and coloring books, bubbles
Stickers and books already colored, used a wet q tip.

When we visited my Aunt & Uncle around Halloween
They had this jar full of coins and you
Could only use one had and grab as much as you could
There were dimes and nickles and pennies too

I remember they had this white cadillac with fins
Red leather seats and it was a convertible
I remember them picking us up
Taking us on a trip. .. ...

I had a bad car accident in '84'
I still was recovering in '85'
I was at my cousins' house
My Aunt Ruth was there. ..

She wanted to see my scars
In the bathroom we had gone
I pulled my pants down
She looked at my left leg---shook her head

She was the only one to ask
To see my scars. ..
That is how she was
Curious...Loving...Fun...

The last time we spoke was 1990
She died in December of '90'
Diagnosis lung cancer
It spread to her brain

The Libra Solution: Shedding Excess and Redefining Success by Lisa DAnnolfo Levey

The familiar lament of dual-career parents raising children is, "I just can't do it all." The Libra Solution provides an alternative - a more satisfying and sustainable work and life approach - to the overwrought modern day norm.
