It was late in the afternoon
Waiting for our father
To finish what he was doing
Putting a dinghy on the back
Of his boat
We tried to be patient-
I was around 12, my sister 11
We took off in my father's cruiser
Twenty-three foot Criss-Craft
It happened on the river-
Unexpectedly
The dinghy snapped
Part of the hardware
Hit my sister close
To her temple
Blood all over the deck
I was trying to calm her
For she was jumping all over
I never saw my father so scared
He speeded up-
Went to Andy's where he got his gas
We went inside
An ambulance was called
She got stitches and a shot
My father got rid of the dinghy... ... ...
