Your roots are strong and deep
To the heavens your branches climb

Like open arms they reach for the sun
The mist feeds your inner soul
Hanging on to the last minute
Then with a sigh letting go

 Hundreds of years you have grown
Majestically to the sky
A petrified forest strong and tall
Such beauty cannot be denied
 
Raging fires have swept over the land
Destroying all in their wake
Crackling and snapping through the woods
Until there is nothing more for it to take

 Time brings new life to the forest floor
Tiny sprouts will push their way through
Growing strong once again
Until the trees are flourishing once more
 
Shedding all the tragedies put in its path
Life renews itself if only given a chance
Growing straight and tall
