Being hurt takes its toll st times

Defeated 
.
Cautious I was reluctant
To trust in them so
I have had loves fire burn bright
Only to have it let go
It's fulfilling your desire
Within sparks abound
Being blinded then tossed
Completely around
those feelings of pain 
Formed doubt and fear
Once you've lost someone
So lovely and dear
You hold many inside with you
Until the very end
So many faces whether they be
Lover or friend
Sound that soul its gate 
Is through the eyes
Like the mirror on the wall
It shows all the lies
Reluctant to look scared 
What you might find
This is how love becomes
Misguided and blind
Learned from mistakes 
I've caused in the past
Understanding with compassion
Helping it to last
Listening to your heart
Teaching love forever
Just believe there is nothing
that can't be done
by caring for everyone
You have already won
Seeing in them what you 
Want to see in you
With loves power 
There is nothing we cannot do

Being "Misguided and blind" happens so often to those who have been betrayed by someone you thought was a person of his/her word. Great write, my friend!!

A positive attitude I'm seeing within the confines of this poem, Kathleen. While it is true to be able to "Listening to your heart" it is also true that as the heart leads, you should pay attention to your brain for pitfalls, etc. along the way.
