Sun Warmed Petals

Springtime beauty surrounds us

Poem Artwork

 When the night yawns
And the day has begun
Sun warmed petals greet you
Across the meadow catching your eye
As their dew kissed faces
Lift their sleepy heads toward the sky
.
I gaze at them in awe
For as far as I can see
All the colors of the rainbow
Are softly swaying in the gentle breeze
Different shapes and sizes blending together
Like a well rehearsed symphony
.
Their fragrances fill the air
As you inhale deeply
Each unique scent enjoyed separately
Happiness fills your heart at their beauty
As you stroll through the meadow
You can feel the peace

Lovely, KLM. Certainly exemplifies Ekphrastic poetry, too; which you have a natural talent for. Your poem 'Tiny Fingers' comes to mind. Ekphrasis is a literary invention. A form of writing, mostly poetry, wherein the author describes another work of art, usually visual, like you have here. Ekphrastic writing is rhetorical in nature and symbolic of a greater meaning. I love the form, and have employed it in my own writing for many years. Enjoyed this. Peace...
