California sinsemilla crossed with Skunk
makes me smile and giggle like I'm drunk
without the misery of the next day
or a headache that won't go away.

Not with my pet skunk in the closet
that I feed and water and talk to it.
I love her so, my sticky sweet stinkiness
Pepe LePew would fall for my princess.

People come and wonder, what's that smell
"It's my pet skunk, she's not feeling well."
Not sure that they believe a single word
when they say, "you must have a herd!"

The time came when she was all grown up
and I reminisced about the little red solo cup
that gave life from a tiny speckled seed
that grew into the soothing meds I need.

Two men in uniform came knocking on my door
I guess my neighbors wanted to settle the score
they were polite policemen, but needed to know
if I had a closet with a pet skunk, or a homegrow.

I told them she grew up and had to go
I will miss my skunk, but she's no mo'
they left satisfied and I let out a big sigh
and got out my sweet skunk and got high!

Sandie, I believe that is what's called a fetish.
Michael, you're equally smart as you are lucky!
Ronald, I agree with your deductive reasoning.
Thank you all for taking the time to read and comment on my humorous poem that I won a gold medal for a poetry contest about the worldwide celebration that takes place on April 20, 420.

I think Michael is on to the gist of your little ditty. The "skunk" in your closet is a metaphor for what is really being carefully kept by you.

When I'm lucky enough,
to get my hands on some skunk,
I keep it tightly sealed,
and stashed in my reefer trunk.

What smells pleasant to one may not be so to another. I used to have a friend who had an underarm odor, it was terrible but her boyfriend said she has a natural pleasant odor. Well, that was something we learned that not everyone smells something would have a similar reaction.
