Lighthouse, Darkhouse
Hold me with your words; make for this slippery fish
a safe cave of leathery palms. Oh, but no;
save yourself and let me go, as in Titanic.
Things are hopeless, as inviolable as iceberg,
the tidal wave so strong I can't outswim the sweet embrace.
You say, I am already lost at sea; not so!
A lighthouse beams inside your heart; in its glass are
starbeams refracting to infinity.
You say you want to make a home between my legs, but darling!
I am mermaid there. Aim for light, forget that damp dark cave,
seek some other loam; another nook will materialize in which,
mercifully, to drown.
