Acrylic "Dinner for One-Half" by Julianza Shavin

I seem to find silence noisy. Perhaps one uncovers one's life themes via the route of self-expression. I've always found writing to be about discovery.

Poem Artwork

       Resound

All my heroes are fallen

only their music remains

which is what keeps them heroic

I could not love the actual them

their lunatic ways, their infidelities

and other dastardly dallyings,

their wrestling in the muck

with blood-mad muses, drowning

and howling in the pernicious

pallor of life, ever penniless,

pathetic, wretched, bestially

brilliant and eternally tortured,

hearts engorged and sickly

with syphilitic self absorption.

Still, I would sell a soul

to kiss one toe of such

a master crafter of word or song

strong enough make one blanch

with bald beatitude.

That's just how I am,

plundering through daily agonies

numbing and dumb

because the echoes are there

to dull the damning din.

All my heroes are all fallen

and I hug their bare bones in.

from rooms filled with the smoke of tokes, acid heads and angel dust aficionados -- their senses immersed in fantasies -- penned lunacy and loosed it upon people starving for any form of uniqueness -- lyrics spun in twisted tongue -- notes of din pounded upon electrified musical pieces -- a fine poetic offering Julie -- JMW

All our heros are gone, and you are soooooo right about not wishing to have known them in person. You would have hated Gilbert O'Sullivan when he was a prize-fighter (he was) or when he was angry, but we love his songs and we wish he could bring them back to America (but that is a different story). The same is true for many of our best singers and other artists. The list is long - those whose lives we could never have willingly shared, but whose works live on lovingly in our remembrances. Nice job on this (needs to be on TWF).
