So finally you told me
You told me you love her
Honest to God with your words
Not knowing how much
You broke my heart
With your truthful confession.
In me you confided
In search for my help
To help you get her
To help you out of your dilemma.
And with tears in my soul
Trying to keep them far from my eyes
I gave you advice;
For you to be happy with her
How supportive and nice you said that I were
Not knowing the cost of the words I was saying.
Soon, I fell into a river of tears
Without learning how to swim.
I've been so blind to the truth
But, now I know you love her
And I gave you advice
On how to even get with her
I comforted your heart in a hard moment
Leaving my own sore
For nobody to hold...

It can be so hard to actually hear those words. (Reminds me of the song "Diary" by Bread)

This is the sign of your ability to love someone with tender goodwill in your heart. So much that you go to the extent of seeing them happy even if it is not with you. THis is an excellent expression of your love.
