They tried so hard to make me talk,
But secrets I would not reveal.
They stood and watched me like a hawk,
So many days that I lost track-
My life was numb, I could not feel.
This body, at their every whim:
The torture with a deadly snake,
And pulling me from limb to limb,
The beatings in a filthy sack-
I prayed the Lord my soul to take.
But day by day I had a plan
To steal away without a trace,
And when I saw the chance, I ran-
I slipped on through a hidden crack
And made it to a better place...
For I am free! I'm free at last!
And I survived, and wonder how.
With faceless shadows in my past,
And ghosts that danced upon my back;
But they no longer haunt me now.
Breaking free...out of the chains that encapsulate one's soul...

Reviews of "No Longer a Prisoner (For I am Free!)"
"WOW!!!???!!! This could be interpreted in so many ways, given the readers' thoughts and most importantly their experiences!!! That's what makes this such an intriguing work of art...free from death? Free from misery? Free from criticism? Free from anything anyone wants!!! That's the beauty of it...you leave this idea open to us. Although your ideas expressed are yours only, thank you for letting the rest of us fill in our blanks." (Comment courtesy of reviewer Jack*** 29)
These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
When two men hit the reset button and decide to go out looking for the good in the world, they not only find it but also a lot more.
