As the night painted a picture
of a new day's beginning, I was
Awakened by its brush strokes
And then, came The Dawn Patrol.
They began to appear one-by-one
under the cloak of morning's mist
First came the bees, then the
Grasshoppers wearing soft-soled shoes.
The mice soon awakened from a
long night's sleep - always on the
Lookout for cats who stealth and
Creep . . . then came a cricket or two.
Then at the top of their mounds were
the ants, who seemed to take a break
Now and again - time for a beer and a
Cheroot; all looked up and gave me a wink.
The different species of birds appeared
in their usual pecking order - the worms
Didn't seem to stick around . . . and the
Mole - was good at pushing things around.
The butterflys flew in their own special
unison as the morning light reflected off
Their wings . . . Nature had taken its time
Gracing us once again with The Dawn Patrol.

GORGEOUS! What a beautiful write to read at 4:56 a.m. ... just as long as the Dawn Patrol stays outside! LOL Well done.
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
This is positively beautiful. Taking us from night to dawn and keeping us mesmerized all the way. Another fantastic write.
