Poem Artwork

My heart has been recently

reduced to fragments, shell

of its original self; thought I

was falling, but rather was

falling into the blackwidow's

trap - should have seen it

coming, but was blindsided;

blindsided by sweet words

and a pretty face, and the

usual bits and pieces that

form deception; they were

adept at changing directions

abruptly - there was no way

I could downshift that f***ing

fast - stripped my gears; were

ground up and turned to dust;

along with that was kicked in

my nuts and spit on - didn't

even phase them because

they had no heart; not even

the Wizard of Oz could help

them; the closer I tried to get,

the more they iced-up - they

wouldn't even warm up in the

Gulf Stream, ironically, that's

where she left me - drowning,

looked-up for a helping hand,

but all I got was the back of

her cold hand across my face;

Now, I'm back to searching,

searching for the right one to

mend my heart . . .

A lighthouse, that beacon in the night and storms leads to safety. The heart has a way of healing it self, though the scars may remain. Sometimes it takes a scarred heart to recognize and appreciate a scarred heart. Keep looking up!

Visions of A Skylark Dressed in Black by Aberjhani
