no more eloping with excuses designed to imprison . . .

Poem Artwork

Needed to develop a succession of images to

get me as far away from my current residence

Was not a house nor a home - more a refuge

A refuge for the unimaginative; a place where

uninspired writing played in my head like an

old phonograph with a needle that got stuck.

That's when I threw away the cupcake, candle

and the match - no more pity party; didn't want

to have my cake and eat it too - it was time

to move on; time to get inspired; time to take

my eyes off of me; break open the hourglass

and throw away the fifty-seven years of sand.

Learn to put one foot in front of the other - no

more two steps back, one step forward; learn

to envision; develop a strong countenance; be

above it all - all that is wrong and evil; put up

the ladder; climb each rung; make it to the top

Pat myself on the back - then extend my hand.

No more daydreaming or reveries; no more

eloping with excuses designed to imprison

And then, when I least expected it, a beautiful

sensation came over me while I was sleeping

God put it there, just had to reach out; started

writing poetry from within - a whole new depth.

Finally, was doing what was I meant to do

Touch as many lives as I could; bring to

others lyrical work in metrical form; poetry

in the raw - as pure and as unadulterated

as the dawn - now I knew that I was

Dreaming Myself Home . . . !

Your message is truly inspiring for us all! Poetry should come from the heart, bubble up thru the brain and explode into words...you've accomplished this wonderfully, Lance/Robert...

How great to find your way, your dream, your calling. Especially fitting, it's where the heart is - home. In finding your way, you've inspired others to dream their dreams. Interesting and grand read. I'm waiting for the short story.

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
