'You'd better run for your life . . . '

Poem Artwork

Not a mythical monster generally represented

as a huge, winged reptile that eats a damsel in

distress; only to have its belly slit open by a

knight in shining armor like the woodman did

to the big bad wolf in Little Red Riding Hood,

but by then she had already been digested.

So as not to disappoint, this is a winged insect

that will come upon you hell bent on sewing

your eyelids shut; will pick-up small children

and eat them on the fly; and will crash through

your car's windshield and go right for your

jugular vein (*by the way, it also hates mimes).

However, they typically eat Mosquitoes, but

that was back during WW2 (did you get that

one?); and also like to chow down on flies,

bees and butterflies, but those are only snacks;

much preferring to hang around by lakes where

there are snorklers and nude sun bathers.

Typically though, they can be found in wetlands

where supposedly adult dragonflys go to die, but

beware because that's the breeding ground for

their larvae; also known as 'nymphs' which is

short for nymphomaniac; they have an insatiable

appetite for sex, then eat you like a Praying Mantis!

Hmm...I have a shirt embroidered with blue dragonflies..have to take another look at it!

Your imagination always gallops along like a steed freed from its rider! Wonderful and entertaining and oddly educational, as well, Lance.

Thank you!

What an interesting "take" on the dragonfly, Lance. Yes. I got your reference to the de Havilland Mosquito WW2 fighter-bomber. Thanks. Love and peace,

Regis
