I heard something yesterday,
And it rocked my foundation,
Echoed in my mind,
Like a truth I didn’t want to hear…
It made me reel with sudden realization,
I had heard a truth,
That could not be denied-
I was listening to lovely friends,
One trying to soothe the
Worn Eros or the other…
And he said this young man,
This speaker of harsh truths:
“We are not given a choice,
In the hand we are dealt,
But it is up to us,
How we play those cards…”
Now maybe you have heard this,
I had not…
And it shocked me,
Before the words
Had even escaped his lips,
I realized what he had done…
In a single line,
He had given me back my life…
So I can choose,
It is my choice…
And I had never even realized
I had a voice…
Always let myself be led,
Pulled and stretched,
Never said a word,
Hated every minute,
But blaming it on fate…
Always forced between choices
Of things I did not want to do.
Never dawned on me,
That I could be free.
So now I see-
My path suddenly clear…
And though I have a little fear,
I am stronger too,
I know now what I plan to do…
I can see other paths now,
The road is no longer blocked…
How strange to feel so light,
So free,
So empty of fright…
Fine!
Give me your best shot!
Maybe I can win this hand,
Maybe not.
But at least I’m back in the game!
Loved the ending because I like to take the best shot and if it knocks me down I just come back also..
this was great about life being a card game and how we play them,,
thank you

"Let's Play Cards!" is one of a kind, and a unique flow of malice, innocence, and wisdom.
This is a true masterpiece to run through millennia.

PS I love that drawing. I had it hanging in my basement; my cats tore it down. Bummer.
