I Wanted A Rainbow…

What I wanted was a rainbow,
What I got was a dream,
Just a fantasy I found,
I could never truly believe…

What I wanted was a hero,
To save me from the dream,
What I wanted was reality,
But you couldn’t give me what I need…

What I wanted was some sunshine,
To brighten up my life,
To wake up one morning,
And find I was alive,

What I wanted was a rainbow,
Hanging in my sky,
What I wanted was to believe in you,
Just once before I die…

The rain just won’t stop falling,
And all I do is cry,
Well, I stopped wanting rainbows,
And my love for you has died…

Night is falling slowly,
The moon rising in the sky,
I know I won’t see a rainbow,
But I still close my eyes…

What I dream of now is you,
In a sky so damn blue,
In a world I don’t believe in,
You whisper I love you…

The sun may not be real here,
But there is nothing left to fear,
I have the moon to comfort me,
As I dream about the rainbow,
I know I’ll never see…

Deep, honest and expression of sadness. The rainbow is within you, and all you see are its reflections on another person's mind. Franz

Very pretty and kind of comforting sort of, but I cannot explain why...thanks for your comments on my writes no matter how sometimes stupid and sometimes unintelligible they are...Peace thru Rainbows, Ed & Rufuz (Rainbows mean a great deal to me as it is the name of my motorhome, RainbowZen...)

Lovely in its sadness that speaks right to the hole in my soul. Thank you for this offering, Retta. Love and peace to you. Regis

Thank you for this, Reindeer. So penetrating and honest, and yet even in the writing I sense a catharsis, such that, having got this "up and out", a new dawn may emerge and a bright new hope be born... the darkest hour is just before the dawn, it is said! Bless you, Kate xx

Oh, but my dear Retta, never stop watching for the rainbow... you have such a compassionate and warm heart, you only need to remember that sun AND rain make a rainbow... when you least expect it, when you weep but have your lovely shine, as well.. then you'll see it. I loved the "angle" you wrote this from... rainbows are sneeky... never give up! katy xox.

Beautiful! We sometimes look in the wrong places for a rainbow ...don't look too far, it may be in you own backyard!
Don't stop dreaming, your hero will come!

What a sad song. Rainbows, like happiness, come when we least expect them. I wish you colors.

Spoken like a true hero...the one who has to live what's left even when it seems there's nothing to live for. Very nicely written.

A poet ALWAYS gets a reincarnation by way of rainbows.
Though patience is not our forte (speaking for myself),
eventually the "right colors" combine to arch across our
sky of blue...and we know the rain (or tears) are ended.
