Dreams of the Dead

Dark God seeking vengeance,
Onion skinned dreams plague the dead,
Mingle with the cries of those still alive.
Incensed I wake enraged,
Never forgot the old tales of woe!
Increasingly I find you hard to believe,
Only children fear you now,
Nightmares only, you are not real!

Wake me!
Drive them from my room,
Before they convince me to follow them,
To my doom!

Your god does not frighten me,
He does not know my name,
Nor I his!

Dreams of the dead,
Haunting my sleep,
Making me weep,
And pull my hair-

Go.
Stay.
Show me the way!
Or leave!

God save me,
I am going mad with grief,
I cannot be here,
Yet I cannot leave!

Don’t you get it?
I’m not afraid!
This is what I fear,
How can I stay?

Dreams of the Dead,
Whispering so softly,
There is a better place,
For you to be…

And you…
Asking me to stay,
When all along,
It is you that is leaving!

Why should I stay?
When her slim and lovely fingers beckon,
Me ever onward to that secret place!

Go.
Stay.
What the hell does it matter,
Anyway…

Wow, This is powerful! Haven't we all had dreams like this though? I know the night my mom died, I heard her voice calling me, she was frightened...I stumbled into her room and just sat there until her spirit left it, then I crawled into her bed and she comforted me with all my tears....

Powerful, compelling piece, Reindeer. There were even chilling moments of the macabre. Haunting...I like the concept of the dead dreaming.
