Poem Artwork

I Am Fall

I am autumn’s russet hues,
Muting softly the colors in you,
The raging red and yellow leaves,
Fall from the glorious trees,

Passions of spring growth,
Fading slowly into somber moods,
Long walks soothing with twilight blues,
Damping down the passions in you…

I am fall,
And the children have flown away,
Leaving you a little sadder,
A little more gray…

But there is understanding too,
Life was not meant to be lived,
In a single day…

Now I give you time to pause,
Take inventory of the passing year,
Give you time to shed your golden tears,
Then wipe them clean again,

And start anew-

Wonderful write, Reindeer. I especially love:
"Passions of spring growth,
Fading slowly into somber moods,
Long walks soothing with twilight blues,
Damping down the passions in you…"

Again, I say, "Wonderful!"

You've made beauty of beauty itself, in this new-to-me approach to writing a new purposeful pem. After the glow from it fades somewhat, and your fame for having done it so well, subsides a bit, I'm going to sneak off to write- ..."as if I am Spring!" - Bill
