The Blending of Lives



Problem: She doesn’t speak, he doesn’t Listen, Is there a solution?

Our thoughts are mired in unspoken agony,
We rise on angry mornings and I do not speak,
Veiled thoughts when I look at you,
Wishing you could understand-

Just listen you say,
But I have heard you speak all day,
And I tire of your verbal ranting,
I just want to get away!

I seek peace in the mountains,
Its lonely beauty stilling my raging heart,
The flowing streams still my anger,
And I realize I love you despite your ways-

I have no patience for so much talking,
But I struggle to believe the things you say,
My heart and soul is quiet and shy,
I can’t answer you,
When you are always shouting,

When I return home and see your eyes,
It makes me want to cry,
Your heart is so sad,
And I feel so bad,
And want to tell you:

“Baby, I need you to hear me too!
I am not like you!
Sit quietly dear,
And I will strive to tell you,
The shadows of my heart,
I will stay as you speak,
And hear past the anger in your eyes;

Perhaps we can make this work,
And blend our lives as smoothly,
As the raging ocean that meets,
The forgiving shore…

Crash against me,
And I will give,
Perhaps you will see,
That I too have a will,
And when the wave recedes,
I will be here still…
