The world is raging outside my door,
Storm pounding and surf rising,
Wild and fierce on this angry night,
The sky growls and blinks her eyes,
As lightening flashes across the sky…
The hair on my arms rises in response,
To all this powerful energy,
I am restless and moody,
Feel the need to run in this wild night,
Feel the rain lash my face and bare arms,
Sooth the fire that rages within-
Ah such power in this storm!
Flowing through my veins;
Electricity in the air making my hair stand on end,
My heart keeping pace with the rolling thunder-
I am night’s savage child,
Running on instinct only…
The meadow looms before me,
Long grasses swaying in obedience to angry god-
I raise my arms to the sky,
And lightning flashes in answer to my plea!
Thunder booms approvingly,
Driving me to my knees,
I laugh insanely at world gone mad;
This is true power!
In the blink of an eye your life can be changed,
And all the whining and bleating of lost sheep,
Can not bring it back again…
Look outside your door,
And see true power,
In the storms that rage across the sky!
Sizzles and cracks with intensity...storms speak to the wild in us! They are part of man's earliest memories...I love storms, and I loved this write, Retta.

yes Reatta this is one reason to hold and control as much power as one can before there is none, or the outside dominates. This piece carried me right with it, then I added in my fearless nature to join in with the outside forces and share. Nothing can stop us from doing this but our own selves and fear. Before I give into the fear, I'll let the stronger outside forces kill me. G

I love a good storm and this write is as powerful as the storms are. Great write!
You and nature are one in this poweful write. When I saw the pic of the open door I was inspired to write a short poem called "Making History" which doesn't meet your challenge criteria but thanks for the inspiration.
Perfection! You plunge us into the heart of that storm, Retta; well done. Mother Nature is the embodiment of Eternal Omnipotence. Love the way this beautifully crafted piece resonates.
