A poem to curiosity--the land rover and the human trait.

Poem Artwork

Curiosity

Shecreeps slowly                                                                                                                                                           .
With measured caution
Like a cat stalking her prey.
She is patient
Never tiring
Ever vigilant.
Her eyes penetrate
Her nose sniffs out
Her brain calculates.
She embodies our skills
She listens to our commands
She holds our dreams.
Working round the clock
Her knowledge improves
In quantum leaps.
Though she has moved only
Hundreds of feet from her
Starting position
She has taken us millions of miles
Into the future.
She is our future.
Did her terrain once hold life?
Did it thrive?
Was it our sister?
Curious minds want to know
Curious minds need to know.
She doesn’t mind extremes
In temperature
And she never complains as
She walks in silence
Like a sentinel
But ever more vigilant.
Her frontier is not
The final frontier—
It is that interface
Between what we know
And what we don’t know.
She creeps slowly
With measured caution
Like a cat stalking her prey.

Great idea fora composition and lots of good content. I like "the interface between what we know and what we don't.

This seems rather strange, You personifying a Mars rover. But then all, we have to do is think about how we always called our ships feminine names, right on down to our automobiles and even our cities with feminine traits.

Actually, I think we did that because as men we were invincible and our machines equally fallible. Therefore, to get off the hook, we gave them feminine personifications––implying that their tendency to fail was a feminine trait.

Therefore, methinks, as strong and failure proof as she is, she should be called, a “he.”

Virolution by Frank Ryan

Our human genome is full of viruses similar to HIV-1. These have played an important role in human evolution and still play an important role in human embryology and day-to-day chemistry. Just how important are they to our evolution past and future?

Virus X by Frank Ryan

Where do viruses, such as Ebola and HIV, come from and why they are so aggressive? This book changed tenets of evolutionary virology, developing the concepts of aggressive symbiosis and plague culling, which explain much of the horror of plague virus
