Of the pathological liar
You litigated me in the public forum
Sized me up and down
Vetted my words my heart my soul
And after losing the election
I entered the sausage machine
Twas ground and squeezed
And rinsed of all wrongs
And was transformed into
Your winner.
And now here I am
All sins and errors forgiven
Free to do or say what I please
Above the law
Unable to err
No need to reveal my holdings
Or my acquaintances
Or to speak in truths
Because there are no truths
Just opinions
And mine are above reproach.
Yes my fellow Americans
You stripped me of all wrongs
Made me incapable of deceit
Even when I tweet
My ego is oh so humble
By my standards
There is truth in all I say
Not as pure as some would like

Truth is relative to intent
And intentions sometime restrict

Hellow Darryl: I wrote this compact little narrative in the first person singular as if it had been written by a nincompoop, you know, as the prez himself might have written it. Just transfer all its little flaws onto Donald, and all is well. It's a deceptive technique that I am not really very good at pulling off. Glad you didn't like it.

It is ironic that we creative people have written into fiction this kind of hero that conquers all and takes no prisoners. A disgruntled, under or unemployed individual with little education except peer and street savvy has been conditioned by comic books, television and movies to believe that the unconventional (but Horatio Alger successful) hero can somehow save the day. Saying to themselves, WTF, I'll vote for him anyway because he can do no harm under the current damn situation. They were wrong, just like most of the Germans in the early 1930s. Nationalistic pride has a price to pay in this world.
I am always wary of writing a poem in the first person because readership will think "it's me". You don't have to worry about that. We know this poem isn't you. Well done. John
