Lessons Learned

The view is different here
Not at all what I had expected
I suddenly like a few people
That never appealed to me—
Funny…

I see the excitement of life
In my grand kids’ eyes
And I am overwhelmed
With emotion—
Such beauty…

I just solved an old
Festering problem and
Now I find it was not
Meant for me rather
For others
And I am OK with that—
Karma at work…

Technology has
Spread its wings and
Soared past me, still
Here on the slow train
Is where I get to
Listen to my music—
And I like it…

I understand my needs
Better now
Simple leads the way
The moving finger writes
But what’s past defines
Only those who live there—
Not me…

Finally I realize
That love is an emotion
Not to be fooled with
By fools like me
It is the perfect gift
To be cherished—
By those who have
Earned it.

Tony Bennet sings about it better
This is All I Ask

Snow lightly falling here, my first cup of coffee, and readings from the heart- pondering it all- including unseen people out there who from time to time add so much to the magic.
Much enjoyed, and felt.

You're never to old to learn, right? Age brings wisdom and clarity to our lives. Muhammad Ali said that a man who views the world at age 50 the same way he did 20 has wasted 30 years of his life.

A sober, measured poem full of understatement that contain nuggets of wisdom. Loved this one inspiring me to think: why didn't I come up with this.

Live and learn! As we age we are able to reflect on the past. I have found that I love to focus on the good things.....the fun times. I had fun reading this poem. Thanks!

Love ya!

Age does provide us with added wisdom. We learn about ourselves and others.

A moving and heartfelt assessment of a particular growing stage that far too many people give but a Hallmark Card attention to. Your choice of words and the phrasing allowed this reader to truly hear the words spoken, complimented by the tempo and rhythm that usually is only heard of thoughts and dialog spoken in film and stage. Very well done.
