I’m thankful for the leaves
that fall upon the ground even
those that take up residence in my yard;
I’m thankful for the voting machines that
reject the evil eyes of ne'er-do-wells
and remain faithful to the voters who
traveled from near and far to cast their
consciences and their hopes for a better tomorrow;
I’m thankful for the first responders and the
medical workers who walk in the valley of death
to save us from ourselves;
I’m thankful for family and friends who still
do not pillage me for my off-handed comments
that tear before they soothe;
I’m thankful for the Irish who always produce
another red-head that I find so adorable;
I’m thankful for researchers who have worked
so tirelessly to find a vaccination against
the virus that takes no prisoners;
I’m thankful for the giver of life who has
once again given me another chance to
dance in the rain;
I’m thankful for the sun and the moon
and all the forces out there that keep
us all safe from harm;
And I am especially thankful to all my
readers who have nodded their approval
instead of reaching for their tar and feathers.
This is the right moment and day to give thanks for all of the above dear Edward. I agree there is so much to be grateful for. If we breathe and we wake up the battle is half done. I love your precious heart and all the sensitive ways that it says thank you . Well said my poet friend. Stay healthy and prosper.
A lot to be thankful for. I'm thankful for the calming four years with prosperity and goodness spreading like wildfire as we solve the most pressing problems of the future, today, before the future comes with all the conspiracies held high by the naysayers wishfully coming to fruition.
Keep on pushing those buttons. There's something about the truth that sometimes hurts before it rewards.
Touché, my friend. What a year to be thankful for what we have, and much less for what we think we want. The downside, unfortunately, are the needs being rendered so tenuous during this pandemic. Those food lines; those leases and evictions coming due around the corner; the unemployed et al. Meanwhile, those who worship the chosen one, watch for a shot of him playing golf. Oh, my. Such a tumultuous few years. Then, of course, we've got the madness day tomorrow which I've prepared a purge piece of prosetry to post in the morning... just for those like ourselves.
Rebecca
