Giving Thanks

I’m thankful for the warmth of day
I’m thankful for the time to say
I’ve turned a leaf in my only way
To say I love you so.

You changed my life
By miles and miles
I feel your love
Like stars above
In the beauty of your smiles.

When days are dark and dreary
My eyes are never teary
You pick me up
You fill my cup
My heart to overflowing.

Now the passage of time
Is like a rhyme
The seasons come and go
Yet in the living
With no misgiving
I know our love is glowing.

Simply wonderful. I hope you don't mind if I share it with my love and tell her that I wish I had written it for her.

She just left in a flourish after treating me to some French pate on cracker before she runs off on little errands for herself this Thanksgiving day. Only to return and share with me a half duck she was given already roasted with an orange sauce. A far cry from roast turkey and the last time I had duck was on a date at the houseboat restaurant, Glad Hand, in Sausalito, 1968.

Certainly if one is locked in a loving embrace there is much to be thankful for. A poem of thanks beautifully rendered. Happy Thanksgiving.

One aspect of living that age and experience can't illuminate is love. No matter how the winds blow, the gentle breezes of love caress is boundless. Beautiful rendering of this most precious value humankind has.
