The afterglow is what is left
When the flames of desire have cooled
When the music recedes into the background
And the song but whispers unschooled--
When answers come with clarity
To questions formed but never asked
When the universe is receptive
Beyond all the earthly ways of knowing
When even intuition stalls.
A murmur begins from afar
A glimmer lights up a star
Voices unclear
Like a soft moonbeam
Seem to gather like ripples
in a stream.
It's about neither you nor I
The answers are meant for us all
Do not ask to know your fate
Or if you should wait
When you think about two
Not one.
To give love you must
first have it
And to have it means to
practice humility
and kindness
and caring
While learning that
love is fulfillment
and in the care
of those who give it
without knowing it
and without seeking
a reward for being true
to themselves and
to their shining star.
A most beautiful and deeply intuitive poem Ed..
Your words come from a place of deep thought
and feeling that transcend the everyday, and take
the reader to a place beyond mere physical existence
where the Universe is conscious, all knowing, loving and benign..

Great depth of matters in the heart. I'm deeply inspired by selfless souls showing the eyes, hands and feet of God causing ripples of profound unconditional love unto humanity ):
There is a depth and richness to this poem that is rare and unique, its cadence and rhythm leaving a lasting impression upon the reader to savor and learn from. Ditti all that Odin also said. So well done.
This poem further confirms what I've thought for years of reading your words: you are a poet at heart and one who although claiming to not be a man of poetic prose, has nevertheless shown time and time again that the ability to know, understand and organize thoughts as you, a master, has over the years, knows he must allow the secrets of his talent to stream through the crevasses of his heart. Your sense of love and compassion has never been so apparent as this beautiful piece of prosetry shows. Bravo, Ed. Your poetic prowess is competing with the title of man of letters and a scholar of political realities. What does it feel like to have such an influence on the world?
